New Bulletin Features
We plan to introduce a segment in the Bulletin called Employee Headlines, where each month we select a few employees to highlight, sharing details about their work, hobbies, pets, and more to help us get to know our team better. We've included a brief survey to determine who is interested in participating. While the majority decision will guide us, anyone who prefers not to be featured can opt out.
Upcoming Staff Trainings
We are in the process of creating a series of Staff Trainings for all team members and will keep you informed as they are completed. Stay tuned.
Speaking of Trainings, I got a Special Request to share this Article about the AvidXchange Process. Hope it helps!
HR Notifications
We are developing the HR Department, and we ask that moving forward, any requests relating to HR be submitted by sending an email to HR@bushburg.com This includes new hire requests, employee changes, offer letters and onboarding.

Floating Holidays - A floating holiday is a paid day off that each employee can decide when to take. The Floating Holiday Rules vary by Union or Prevailing Wage Rules. For Office Employees, it is meant to allow flexibility based on people's beliefs. These must be requested a week in advance through Justworks and you should get approval from your manager before you can take it.
PTO Etiquette - As we talk about PTO's let's have a quick reminder about PTO Etiquette.
PTO should always be requested in Justworks and approved by your manager or HR.
Justworks Calendar shows people's PTO's and its good to have an understanding who is in or out that day.
Make sure that there is someone from your team that is taking over your tasks or is ready to respond for you on any high impact items.
Put Email Autoresponder to let people know you are not available that day.
Enter the Out Of Office in the Google Calendar and set it up to cancel meetings when you are out.
Update your Status in Slack - Popular Emojis for OOO are:
⛔ = Out
🤒 = Sick
🏝️ = Vacation
Let your team members from your department know that you are out
Put a note on the OOO channel in Slack
Turn off your notifications if you would prefer not to be disturbed on your day off.
If a team member is out of the office and you need something from them
Don't Call Them
Don't Text Them
What can you do instead?
See if someone else from their team can help while they are gone, which is highly likely.
Send them an email for them to answer when they are back.
Send them a Slack for them to answer when they are back.
Is there a time when it is ok to call them or text them?
If it's a life or death situation and they can do something about it.
If there is a fire and they can somehow help or need to know.
Is their birthday and you want to text them Happy Birthday.
